Man in hospital after ‘superstorm’ in Cripple Creek

MANHATTAN, Kan.

— A man was hospitalized Friday night after a “superstorm” hit the Crippled Creek area.

A person in the area was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the Cootah County sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s department says the man is believed to be the person who was hurt.

The storm is expected to move through the area through the weekend.

The weather service said it could be “possibly tropical or possibly windy.”

The storm is forecast to last until Sunday.

The National Weather Service said its a “major threat” and that winds of 100 mph were possible overnight.
