Redskins trade quarterback to the 49ers
The Washington Redskins have traded quarterback Colt McCoy to the San Francisco 49ers, league sources told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
The deal includes a third-round pick in 2019 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2020, sources told Rapoports Tuesday.
McCoy was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Redskins are set to take on the New England Patriots in the 2017 NFL Playoffs on Sunday night.
McCoy had surgery on his right shoulder after being injured in the preseason and missed all of 2017.
He had started the last seven games of the regular season.
The trade is the 49er’s first of the season.
It will pay him $4 million in 2018, $4.5 million in 2019, $3.8 million in 2020 and $3 million in 2021.
It’s unclear whether McCoy will return to Washington after he finishes the season on injured reserve.
He was released by the 49s on Monday.
