This Is What A New Burmese Furniture Shop Looks Like, Researchers Say

Posted May 08, 2018 04:53:30 Burmish furniture shops, including kyrendi and kyresta, have been around since the 1920s, but the last decade has seen a rapid growth in their popularity and business.

They’re popular in Myanmar’s rural areas where the country’s ethnic and religious minorities live in close proximity.

“I have visited kyrexi (a Burmuean term for an outdoor shop) on the outskirts of the capital, Naypyidaw, many times,” says Mr Kim.
