‘It’s a great way to get a start in life’: Man says he’s happy to work from home
A 35-year-old Englishman who says he “just feels like working from home” says he wants to start a family.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he is the “first” family member to get the job.
He said he feels a “sense of accomplishment” because he “knows the person in the kitchen is going to cook dinner”.
“I just feel like working for the rest of my life,” he said.
“I want to be able to do that.”
Mr Thomas said he hopes to start work as soon as possible and has been offered the position at Highgate Furniture Shop, which employs around 200 people.
“We are looking to find a young professional for the job,” a Highgate spokesman said.
The spokesman said the shop was looking for a “good quality” person and was looking to fill a “significant” role within the business.
He did not elaborate on what role would be part-time.
The position would pay £40 an hour.
“It’s great to be working with a great team of people, we’re delighted to have him,” the spokesman said of Mr Thomas.
Mr Thomas’s boss said he had been told by the manager he was a “wonderful young person” and would be given a chance to develop into a “professional”.
Mr Thomas, who has been working from his home in Basildon since he was 19, said it was “a fantastic opportunity”.
“It just feels like a new beginning for me,” he added.
“As soon as I get my job I’ll just start looking forward to that.”
